Dentures in Los Angeles and Downey, CA
Replace Missing Teeth With a Personalized Solution
Missing teeth can make eating, speaking and smiling more difficult. Custom dentures replace multiple missing teeth and restore support for your lips and cheeks.
Dr. Won Jung Jeong and Dr. Debora Jeong provide full, partial and implant-supported denture options at Mission Dental Group in Los Angeles and Downey, CA.
What Are Dentures?
Dentures are removable restorations designed to replace missing teeth and surrounding gum tissue. Each denture is created around the shape of your mouth, bite and tooth-replacement needs.
Modern dentures can help restore function and create a more complete smile. They require an adjustment period and should be evaluated regularly as the mouth changes over time.
Types of Dentures
Full Dentures
A full denture replaces all teeth in the upper or lower arch. It rests on the gums and is shaped to fit the underlying tissues.
Partial Dentures
A partial denture replaces several missing teeth while working around the remaining natural teeth. It helps fill open spaces and may reduce unwanted shifting of neighboring teeth.
Implant-Supported Dentures
An implant-supported denture connects to dental implants for additional stability. This option may reduce movement while eating and speaking, but candidacy depends on oral health, bone structure and treatment goals.
Benefits of Replacing Missing Teeth
Depending on the type of denture, treatment may help:
- Restore a more complete smile
- Improve chewing function
- Support clearer speech
- Restore facial and lip support
- Fill spaces left by missing teeth
- Support remaining teeth with a partial denture
- Improve denture stability with dental implants
Dentures do not function exactly like natural teeth. Our dentists will explain what you can reasonably expect from each option.

What to Expect When Getting Dentures
Examination and Treatment Planning
Your dentist examines your teeth, gums and jaw and discusses the problems you want to address. Any remaining teeth are evaluated to determine whether they can support a partial denture or require treatment.
Impressions and Measurements
Detailed impressions and bite measurements are collected to help create the denture. Digital impressions and intraoral scanning may be used when appropriate.
Try-In Appointments
A trial version may be used to evaluate tooth position, appearance and bite before the final denture is completed. Adjustments can be made based on your dentist’s evaluation and feedback.
Final Placement and Adjustments
Your dentist checks the denture’s fit and bite and explains how to place, remove and clean it. Follow-up adjustments may be needed as your mouth adapts.
Implant-Supported Denture Planning
Dental implants may provide additional support for a denture. Dr. Won Jung Jeong places dental implants and performs sinus lift procedures when indicated. Dr. Won Jung Jeong and Dr. Debora Jeong both restore implants.
Detailed imaging helps determine whether your jawbone can support implants and how an implant-supported restoration may fit into your treatment plan.
Adjusting to New Dentures
New dentures may initially feel unfamiliar. Temporary changes in speech, chewing and saliva production are common while your muscles and tissues adapt.
Begin with soft foods cut into small pieces and chew slowly on both sides of the mouth. Practice reading aloud if certain words are difficult to pronounce. Contact our office if the denture causes persistent soreness or feels unstable.
How to Care for Dentures
Clean your dentures daily using the method recommended by your dentist. Handle them carefully and avoid using hot water, which can distort the material.
Clean your gums, tongue and any remaining natural teeth every day. Remove your dentures at night unless your dentist provides different instructions. Store them properly to help prevent drying or damage.
Continue attending dental appointments even if you no longer have natural teeth. These visits allow your dentist to examine your gums, oral tissues, bite and denture fit.
